Which of these items frightens you the most?
1. Hiking 1.5 miles below the Earth's surface into an incredibly dank, dark, and cramped cave?
2. Walking along a rickety catwalk 25 feet in the air with nothing but the hard ground beneath you?
3. Riding an enormous horse for an hour over uneven terrain?
4. Calling on your friends and family to help you launch or relaunch your home based business?
If you answered #4 you and I have something in common. The other three, I did this weekend. Now, I'm not a huge fan of cramped, dark spaces, heights or horses but I'd do all three in a heartbeat over asking the dreaded words: "will you have a party for me?"
I've been involved with direct sales for over 15 years. I've spent the last 10 with one company. You would think that I, of anyone, have this down. I don't. I still hate to pick up the phone or write those emails, I don't want anyone to cringe when they see it's me in their inbox or on their caller ID. I get all clammy when I "make the call", I'd rather face a cave then call my best friends on a "sales call".
